Hydrangea selections
Lib is the hydrangea grower here at MapleWalk Garden and she has mophead, panicle, lacecap and vining varieties in her collection. She heads to Hydrangeas Plus when she buys new varieties but enjoys the legacy ones on our property as well. We inherited a hot pink mystery mophead when we bought the house. It was in a container, and decades ago we planted it in our lower private garden. It could not be happier, with gorgeous fuchsia clusters greeting us each May.

'Lemon Zest' hydrangea macrophylla
-
'Ayesha' hydrangea macrophylla
Unusual for its fragrance, 'Ayesha' features large, compact flower heads eight inches across packed with cup-shaped sepals similar to lilacs. Opening first as white, the sepals change to soft pink, sky blue, or pale purple depending on soil pH. It’s a beautiful, two-toned effect!
